A popular downtown ride-sharing service is now expanding into Naples.
The Nickel Ride, a free service that transports riders around downtown and neighborhood core areas announced this week that they will be adding service to Naples starting December 14.
The company started in Fort Myers in 2017, and has since expanded their offerings into Cape Coral, Punta Gorda, and St. Petersburg.
In Naples when the launch date begins, Nickel Ride will have six operating vehicles in the Downtown Naples area, running in the area of 5th Avenue South through 14th Avenue South, and from Gulfshore Boulevard in the west to Naples Bay in the east, including Old Naples and Tin City. Their cars will run from Noon to 10 p.m. daily.
“I’m extremely pleased with the growth The Nickel Ride has experienced in 2018. I’ve had my eye on Naples for some time now and I’m glad the city recognizes the value and benefits our services will bring to its businesses, residents, tourists, and community as a whole,” said Judah Longgrear, CEO, and Founder of The Nickel Ride. “The city of Naples is one of the shining stars in Southwest Florida and my team and I are excited to bring our services to their location.”
The free service is funded by advertising posted on the company’s small vehicles, which are designed to reduce congestion and carbon emissions in high-traffic areas such as downtown corridors.
A full route map is expected to come closer to the launch date.
