Law enforcement is seeking a suspect in the attempted kidnapping of a young woman in the parking lot of a student housing complex near Florida Gulf Coast University on Sunday night.
According to Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers, the female victim pulled into the parking lot at The Residences at University Village, a dorm-style apartment complex at 19801 Village Center Drive in Estero, around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday. After hearing a car speeding towards her, the victim turned to look and saw the vehicle come to a stop very near to as a man hurried out of the driver’s side door. The suspect grabbed the victim, and without saying a word, began pulling her towards his car. The young woman was able to fight back repeatedly until the suspect eventually let her go. The man then fled towards nearby shops and then onto Ben Hill Griffin Boulevard while the victim called for help.
The suspect is described as a white male, in his late 20s or early 30s, with a thin build, blond hair, brown eyes and a possible scar under his left eye near his nose, the Crime Stoppers release states. He was driving a black Ford SUV, possibly an Explorer. LCSO has released a composite sketch of the suspect.
Anyone who may have witnessed the attempted kidnapping, or who may have any information on the suspect, is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).
