Whoever said cats don’t like water hasn’t been to a “Kitten Shower” – an event that couldn’t bring more happiness to a baby cat.
The Port Royal Jewelers will host its inaugural Kitten Shower on Saturday, May 7, to benefit the Naples Cat Alliance, a no-kill, free-roam shelter caring for displaced, surrendered, medically challenged and orphaned cats. Both organizations will showcase a mixture of jewelry and kittens in order to raise money and awareness for the NCA.
In honor of “kitten season,” a time of year that many litters are born consecutively, the NCA invites locals to meet the new arrivals while enjoying light finger foods, desserts and beverages. The event will even give attendees the chance to name some of the kittens upon gifting a donation. Anyone interested in adopting a kitten will be followed through at the shelter. All proceeds from this event will go to cover the medical and daily expenses of the care of the moms and kittens.
“This is an adoption awareness and fundraiser event to support the anticipated increase of kittens to the shelter as we are now in ‘Kitten Season,’” the NCA released. “Yes, there is such a season! Between the months of April to September, most cats are conceived and born. We have an increased push to trap pregnant cats so that they have a safe place to deliver their litter and care for kittens until they reach an adoptable age.”
“During this time, NCA cares for them by feeding, socializing, loving and providing any necessary medical care. Both mother and kittens are spayed or neutered to help cut down on the overpopulation of unwanted cats before they become adoptable. We extend a heartfelt ‘Thank You’ to Port Royal Jewelers for continued support.”
The event will take place from 1-4 p.m. and will benefit the NCA location at 623 5th Ave S. Naples, FL 34102. For more information, visit at www.naplescatalliance.org.
