A new video by Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump meant to attack former Florida governor Jeb Bush strikes a little close to home.
In a 15-second video posted on Trump’s Facebook pages, the campaign attacks Bush on illegal immigration, taking quotes from an event Bush attended in 2014, interspersed with mugshots of immigrants charged in crimes.
Among the mugshots used in the video is that of 19-year old Belize native Brian Omar Hyde, who in August was arrested and charged with three counts of second degree murder and the killing of an unborn child. Hyde is set to appear in front of a judge for arraignment Sept. 15. He is currently being held without bond.
Deputies accuse Hyde in the death of the family members he was staying with, Dorla Pitts, 37, Starlette Pitts, 17, and Michael Kelly, 19. Starlette Pitts was pregnant at the time of her death.
In the video, Bush is quoted as referring to immigrants crossing the border as an “act of love,” as Hyde’s image appears on the screen.
Hyde appears with two other men’s mugshots in the video. Francisco Sanchez, the first man in the video, allegedly killed a woman on a San Francisco pier in July, and had been deported five times. The other, Santana Gaona, is currently serving 50 years in a Texas prison after the shooting death of a man with whom Gaona got into an argument with in 2011.
