A couple is in custody on drug and weapons charges after having a large shipment of Xanax pills delivered to a residence in Lehigh Acres on Monday.
According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, a package containing 4,030 Xanax pills was delivered to 5109 25th Street Southwest in Lehigh Acres Monday. That package was opened at 4:05 p.m. by the 28 year-old suspect Daniel Crossen. Nobody answered when deputies executed a warrant, but Crossen was spotted attempting to leave through the garage and was detained.
Reports say that the contents of the package were found torn open and hidden inside a bedroom closet. Additional searches uncovered more prescription pills which were located along with marijuana and a Glock .40 caliber handgun. In total, all the pills recovered in the raid have a combined street value of over $80,000.
The suspect’s wife, Kayla Crossen, 28, was also placed under arrest after returning home because she had taken initial possession of the Xanax shipment before it was opened.
Daniel Crossen was charged with drug possession, intent to sell, and possession of a firearm by a felon. Kayla Crossen was charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to sell.
Last week, a similar arrest was made with a package containing ecstasy that was delivered to someone’s home.
