A body was discovered floating in a lake on the property of the Naples Municipal Airport on Monday, the Naples Police Department said.
Officers responded to the scene around 8:30 a.m. after receiving a call from a passer-by, Lieutenant Seth Finman said during a briefing.
“We do not have positive identification yet, detectives are on the scene,” Finman said. “The individual has been removed from the lake and detectives are investigating the incident.”
Details are currently sparse, including how long the body had been in the lake, but Finman did say it was a male victim.
There was no vehicle of any kind found in or nearby the lake, Finman said, but added that divers are seeking for personal effects in the lake near that body that could prove useful.
“Divers are looking for supplemental evidence that may be helpful with the death,” Finman said.
The body was taken to the medical examiner’s office.
