The U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur will not be held in Naples this year because of Hurricane Irma, the U.S. Golf Association announced Tuesday.
Originally scheduled for Oct. 7-12 at Quail Creek Country Club, the tournament had previously been postponed due to the storm. USGA officials had previously postponed the tournament because of the impending threat of the storm.
The USGA said that were moving the tournament because of flooding and damage sustained to the course and its facilities.
“Our thoughts continue to be with our good friends at Quail Creek, and with everyone affected by this storm as they continue to recover and rebuild,” said Rachel Sadowski, U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship director. “The USGA remains committed to conducting this championship, and we are working diligently to secure a new venue that provides the ultimate test of golf for these exceptional athletes.”
A new date and venue has not yet been announced.
