Three Cheers: Things to do this Labor Day weekend

Well there you have it folks that’s the end of August. While August went out with a bang thanks to some heavy rainfall and some floods, you rode out the storm and we’re into September. If you’re looking to celebrate the fact that you survived the floods or the fact that you don’t have to work on Monday, here’s what’s going on this weekend in Southwest Florida.

Liverpool Live in Cape Coral – The Cultural Park Theatre will be hosting Liverpool live from Friday to Sunday in Cape Coral. Voted the No. 1 Beatles Tribute in Florida, former members of Disneyworld in Orlando bring timeless Beatles hits back to life. On Friday the show will begin at 8 p.m. on Saturday there will be shows at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m., and on Sunday the show will be begins at 3 p.m. Tickets are $20.

Art Walk in Fort Myers – The City of Fort Myers will be hosting its monthly Art Walk in Downtown Fort Myers on Friday and Saturday in Downtown Fort Myers. Highlighted by local artists in the area, the art walk will feature exhibits, receptions and galleries. The event is free and will be held from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Preacher Lawson in Naples – Comedian Preacher Lawson will be performing at Off the Hook Comedy Club in Naples from Friday to Sunday. A comedian from Orlando, Lawson has been making a name for his self across the country by performing for the judges on “America’s Got Talent” this season. Tickets range from $25 to $35.

A Feasting Beast in Fort Myers – A Feasting Beast will be performing at HOWL in Fort Myers on Friday. An Orlando band that specializes in metal, A Feasting Beast recently released their new album Discorruption on June 9. They will be joined by HellFrost and more for a night full of metal. The show runs from 8 p.m. to midnight and admission is $5.

Improv Tonight! in Bonita Springs – Bonita City Improv will be performing at the Center for Performing Arts in Bonita Springs on Saturday. Performing on the first Saturday of every month, the group performs musical improv comedy, games, and scenes that thrive off of suggestions from the audience. The event begins at 8 p.m. and admission is $15.

Sounds So Different concert in Fort Myers – Beach Records will be hosting Sounds So Different concert in Fort Myers on Saturday. Featuring an assorted mix of music throughout the night, there will be performances by K-Sea, Personal Kings, Yr Glow, Slow Ocean and Xid and the 25. Admission is free and the concert will run from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
