Charges have been filed related to a June sexual battery in Golden Gate, the Collier County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday.
Alberto Amezaga, 31, was charged with sexual battery and burglary in connection to an incident on June 18, deputies said. Amezaga was already in police custody after a July 29 arrest for violating a no-contact order.
According to deputies, Amezaga allegedly entered the victim’s home in the early morning hours and attacked her while she slept on June 18. Authorities formally brought charges against Amezaga after DNA evidence linked him to the scene in forensic results received Thursday from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
Amezaga is also a suspect in two other sexual batteries which occurred under similar circumstances in Golden Gate. Deputies say they are seeking evidence to bring charges against him for those incidents as well.
