Three Cheers: Things to do in SWFL this weekend


Congratulations. You survived the month of July and there’s only five months left of 2017. While the beginning of August not only signals tax-free weekend, it also signals that your kids are one step closer to being back in school. Whether you’re looking to enjoy something to do with the kids, or you need plans for date night, here’s what to look out for this weekend in Southwest Florida.

Art Walk in Fort Myers – The City of Fort Myers will be hosting its monthly Art Walk on Friday and Saturday in Downtown Fort Myers. Highlighted by local artists in the area, the art walk will feature exhibits, receptions and galleries. The event is free and will be held from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Meowzic Happy Hour in Bonita Springs – The Community Cats of Bonita will be hosting Meowzic Happy Hour on Friday in Bonita Springs. A music filled happy hour to benefit community cats in Bonita Springs, guest in attendance can enjoy appetizers, a 50-50 raffle, a cash wine/beer bar and live music. The event will begin at 5 p.m., and a donation of $15 is requested in advance or $20 at the door to attend the event.

Improv Tonight in Bonita Springs – Bonita City Improv will be performing at the Center for Performing Arts in Bonita Springs on Saturday. Performing on the first Saturday of every month, the group performs musical improv comedy, games, and scenes that thrive off of suggestions from the audience. The event begins at 8 p.m. and admission is $15.
