Deputies from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man in Fort Myers Thursday believed to be responsible for over 100 instances of identity theft.
According to deputies, they pulled over Kensly Phenix, 30, for a routine traffic stop. Once pulled over and after searching the vehicle, however, they found $51,000 worth of money orders, and ledgers full of names and personal identification details inside the 2011 Infiniti.
The vehicle also had $1,200 in cash, a firearm, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia inside, deputies say, including a gas mask bong.
Deputies seized the vehicle, money orders, and cash, charging Phenix with a series of charges including fraud, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug equipment, a weapons charge, and driving on a suspended license.
