A crash on northbound Ben Hill Griffin Parkway has closed two lanes of the roadway Saturday evening.
A black SUV crashed into a tree and overturned, sending the tree into the roadway and closing two of the northbound lanes of the highway near the intersection of Ben Hill Griffin and College Club Drive. The intersection is the southernmost entrance into Gulf Coast Town Center and about a mile north of Florida Gulf Coast University.
According to eyewitnesses, two passengers were trapped inside of the vehicle, and had to be removed from the vehicle.
The passengers, both male, appeared to have minor injuries.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office, and San Carlos Park Fire and Rescue are on scene.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
