To some, the Collier fires were a traffic nuisance and a smokey annoyance. Their communities were littered with forestry vehicles, firefighters, media personnel, helicopters and all that is required to battle such a blaze.
To others, the fires meant significantly more as they lost everything to the smoke and flames. Four Collier families helplessly watched as their memories…their valuables…the basic staples of their lives were incinerated.
Coincidentally, one member of the four aforementioned families had purchased a Harley-Davidson from Naples Harley-Davidson on Gateway Lane in Naples. According to firefighters, the fierce flames and raging heat thoroughly melted the motorcycle turning it into a mere smudge on the garage floor.
Human goodness and benevolence show themselves in the strangest ways and at the most troublesome of times. This was such a time.
A group of firefighters…also Naples Harley-Davidson customers…approached the dealership and asked if it was possible to provide a “loaner” motorcycle to the victim of the fire.
In a recent conversation with Marketing Manager Alex Rodriguez…AKA “ARod”…Naples Harley-Davidson wanted to do much more.
That desire to help has resulted in the creation of “Bike Night.” To be held on Saturday, May 27, Naples Harley-Davidson “Bike Night” will be a gathering of caring friends and neighbors and will include live music from Teakwood Drive Band, Parmesan Pete’s and Brit Pit food trucks, vendors, live airbrushing, a bikini bike wash, Budweiser beer and much more.
Donations will be accepted and proceeds will be divided among the four families who suffered total loss. Generous donations of services made by Vineyards Golf Club, Cherry Hill Tattoo Company of Naples, Bliss Salon of Naples, Bigham Jewelers, Barbers and Bourbon and Foxboro Tavern will be auctioned off, as well.
“Bike Night” will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Arrive earlier in the day to enjoy “Grilling and Chilling,” a free barbecue that begins at 11:30 a.m.
