Reportedly displaying a firearm to other motorists on westbound Alligator Alley, a call to the Florida Highway Patrol prompted a traffic stop in eastern Collier County on Friday.
At approximately 2:20 p.m., FHP troopers conducteda traffic stop of a gray Chevrolet near mile marker 64.
A search of the vehicle uncovered a plastic bag containing credit cards beneath the driver’s seat. The investigation revealed papers with written credit card information and personal data, fraudulent credit cards, gifts cards and a bottle of Hydrocodone lacking a prescription label.
FHP took both Antoine Demetrie Owens, 35, and Lashay Nicole McDonald, 32, into custody. Both were charged with Fraud, Possession of a control substance, Trafficking of a control substance (Opium or derivative) and Possession of stolen credit cards (26 Counts). Owens was additionally charged as a Habitual Traffic Offender.
The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the 26 credit cards and 89 gifts cards that were seized.
