Cold Case: Murder of Local Teen Remains Unsolved After 33 Years

“naplesMelody Gay was 19 years old when her body was found in Golden Gate. The blonde haired, blue-eyed teen worked at a local 7-Eleven.

On March 7, 1984, Gay was working the midnight shift, when a customer came in and found the store empty around 4:30 a.m., according to the case profile.

The Sheriff’s Office was called on-scene and took a missing person report. The search for Gay lasted three days, until her body was found by a fisherman in a canal off White Boulevard in Golden Gate. It was reported that she had been beaten and strangled by her killer.

Today, the case remains unsolved.
