The Collier County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a battery early Monday morning, having to call SWAT and convince a man with a gun to surrender peacefully.
The original call came in at 3:43 a.m., according to a Collier County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman. Deputies responded to a call at a residence at the 500 block of Lake Louise Circle and met the caller outside the house.
The victim said their son, who is the suspect in the incident, allegedly battered and pointed a gun at the victim. The suspect refused to come outside; a SWAT team was called in to handle the situation.
CCSO was able to enter the home around 7:40 a.m. and took the suspect into custody. He is being treated at a local hospital and booked into jail on two felony charges, according to the spokeswoman.
The suspect is James Corelli, 43. He is facing charges of battery and domestic violence on a victim over 65, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
