Eleanor Anne Colon, 24, was arrested Wednesday after attempting to cash a forged check at the Regions Bank on Tamiami Trail in Naples.
At 2:48 p.m. on Wednesday, the Collier County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call that a woman was trying to cash a forged check. Colon, a homeless resident of Naples, is a documented gang member, according to CCSO. She also told officers she is currently living in a hotel room.
The officer on scene asked what Colon was doing the bank and she stated that she was attempting to cash a check for $30.
While the officer was speaking with the bank teller who had been helped Colon, Colon ran out of the bank, into the parking lot.
When Colon did not stop after offers asked her to, she was tased in the parking lot. Upon being struck by the taser in the back, she immediately fell and hit her head, according to the report.
Once an EMS was on scene, Colon was transported to the Naples Community Hospital. After being cleared for her injuries, she was booked into the Naples Jail Center.
Due to her homeless status and her recorded history with gangs, a bail was not set for Colon. Her first court date has been set for Jan 30.
