Founders Bill Kraus and Steve Newton, two best friends hoped to open a restaurant with a MISSION to honor, support and give back to Our American Heroes, in Our Community and Our Country, who Protect, Serve and Save.
Guns n Hoses Pipes n Drums was created in September 2011 by a few members who had performed at Fire and Police Funerals and wanted to organize a volunteer group here in SW Florida to attend such events. The members came from several local bands as well as individual players. They came from all over the US, Canada, England, Scotland, and Ireland. There are active and retired Firefighters and Law Enforcement Officers, Military Veterans, EMS, and Patriots who wish to put their support behind these organizations.

No. 6 Harry Chapin Food Bank Comedy Fundraiser
When: Sunday Aug 14
Start Time: 7:30 p.m.
Where: Laugh-In Comedy Café – 8595 College Pkwy, Fort Myers
Admission: $15 each HERE
What to Expect: Enjoy a night of laughter along with supporting a great cause! All proceeds will be donated to the Harry Chapin Food Bank of SW FL. With each donated dollar, the food bank can provide its partner agencies $6 worth of food. So a $5 gift translates to $30 in food, etc. They are able to get this kind of leverage because of the way they acquire food.
The majority of the food they distribute to partner agencies—about 150 in Southwest Florida–that feed families, children and others through their soup kitchens, pantries and other programs is donated from: *food retailers like Publix, Walmart, Target, directly from the food industry and from farmers locally, regionally, statewide and nationally. They also acquire food through their national affiliate, Feeding America, which is based in Chicago. Feeding America has forged relationships with food manufacturers (Kraft, Cargill, for example) and businesses (Walmart, Target, for example). Their donations, in turn, trickle down to Feeding America’s 200-member network of food banks.
We also acquire food through government commodities (U.S. Department of Agriculture) and private donations. These two sources, however, are the smallest sources of food compared to the others mentioned above.
More Info: The Harry Chapin Food Bank of SW FL has two convenient locations. Their warehouse in Fort Myers, 3760 Fowler Street, is open Monday through Friday, between 8 am and 4 pm. Their warehouse in Naples, at 2221 Corporation Blvd, is open Monday and Friday 8 am and 3 pm and Tuesday and Thursday 8 and 11:30.
