GameTime: A Local Arcade With a Colorful Culinary Flair

the gametime arcade at gulf coast town center

“naplesI’m talking about the new GameTime in Fort Myers in the Gulf Coast Town Center! it’s much more than just hoops and hamburgers. GameTime offers fun indoor amusements for all ages, with over 120 games, simulators and 6 lanes of Mini Bowling. With indoor/outdoor seating and over 65 HDTVS, it’s a mecca for sports fans, game-lovers, families and foodies alike.

The game plan is to come hungry because this sports bar and restaurant will knock your socks off. I started my evening with a Lemon-Drop Martini, which was very refreshing and perfectly shaken. Not too sweet and not too bitter.

This was paired with my favorite appetizer here, Fried Mac N’ Cheese Balls. A creamy Mac N’ Cheese with a crispy breaded outer layer, served with pink alfredo sauce. Wow, does this ball fly! The sauce is house made, as are all the sauces and dressings from the GameTime kitchen, including buffalo sauce, BBQ, ranch dressing and salsa.

Next batter up, is a fun plate of Chicken Tenders, hand breaded and fried to a golden crisp. No greasy mess here. It’s dipped twice in the batter and perfectly seasoned. Served with curly fries and choice of honey mustard or BBQ sauce.

Is there a burger in your future? Select any Angus burger charbroiled to order and add any toppings from swiss cheese, avocado to sautéed mushrooms. I chose the BBQ Bacon Burger with a hearty half-pound of meat brushed with GameTime’s famous BBQ sauce, topped with bacon strips, cheddar cheese, grilled onions and a huge beer battered onion ring on top. Full of flavor and oozing melted cheese – it’s a home run!

Racing for the checkered flag are two chicken entrees: Monterey Chicken, containing two marinated chicken breasts grilled and smothered with sautéed mushrooms. Topped with melted cheddar and jack cheeses, crispy bacon and drizzled with honey mustard. The crowd goes wild! The flavor profile is phenomenal. The side of chunky mashed potatoes are the best I’ve tasted in a while. Homemade and hearty!

The Blackened Chicken Pasta comes with grilled chicken breast, fresh fettuccine noodles and topped with buttery alfredo sauce and sun-dried tomatoes. The pasta was al dente and savory. It was time for a well-deserved pitstop – and an iced cold margarita made with Jose Cuervo Tequila in a Kosher salt-rimmed glass. Sipping on my margarita, I noticed a private room off to the side of the restaurant – ready to reserve for small parties, meetings and get-togethers for a minimal room fee. The whole restaurant is available for larger parties, banquets, dinners or conferences with a ticket offering for all the games in the arcade.

The Margherita Pizza was in my end zone with fresh slices of mozzarella cheese on top. Yes, slices. The kitchen has a meat slicer that shaves off slices from a block of cheese. The marinara sauce and outstanding Roma tomatoes were the bomb – topped with fragrant basil leaves.

I felt right at home in GameTime’s spacious facility. The large windows surrounding the Sports Bar made it seem airy and an amusing part of the arcade and outside terrace. This is the place to bring the whole family when the weather gets hot. Summer specials are in full throttle now with GameTime’s signature promotion, Play Your Way, starting at 7 p.m. every Thursday night. Play Your Way gives you up to 5 hours of Timed Play for only $10!
