“As I see it, there are two kinds of people in this world; People who love delis, and people you shouldn’t associate with.” – Damon Runyon
I liked Stage 62 Deli back when it opened back in 2010-it was the only Jewish-style deli in Naples. I love it now, with its new branding as The Stage Deli Fine Foods bringing forth even more delicious food and a dramatic new decor. Owner/executive chef Steve Goldberg has taken it from being Naples’ only Jewish Style Deli to one of the best in South Florida. What deli’s do I compare it to? I was a deli regular at the crème de la crème of classic deli’s along Miami’s Collins Avenue- Wolfie’s, Rascal House, Pumpernik’s, and nearby Corky’s.
This popular Mercato spot’s decor has been upgraded on every aspect to craft a casually sleek spot with rich blue leather booths and banquettes, accented by framed movie star photos and a full bar with classic cocktails, wine and beer. The menu’s classic Jewish dishes and healthy options have expanded with new local and global fare including chicken shawarma, falafel, huevos rancheros, English fish and chips, the Cubano, and blackened Florida grouper. It’s adult and family friendly all week long, with a kids menu, outdoor dining, and dozens of wallet-friendly breakfast, lunch, dinner, Sunday brunch and dessert options. Want gluten-free or vegan? You’re covered here!
Start your Stage Deli tasting with a platter of nova lox with dill cream cheese and capers, classic stuffed cabbage, a cup of rich mushroom barley soup, or a bountiful California omelette with avocado, cheddar, smoked ham and crisp onion strings.
Savor a classic matzoh ball soup, gooeylicious Philly cheese steak or California club sandwich.
Put a touch of spice in your life with chicken Madras with tandoor chicken and curry sauce. The nutritious Tuscan kale salad with avocado, toasted pumpkin seeds, and garbanzos hits the spot!
No deli brunch visit is complete without trying a trio of heavenly pillows- golden-brown farmers cheese blintzes topped with blueberries, crisp potato latkes (pancakes) and applesauce, Reuben sliders with melted Swiss cheese on rye, or a tall stack of corned beef with mustard and chopped liver!
I recommend having a delicious dinner at the Stage, before visiting the nearby Silverspot movies. Stop by for the rainbow trout, Shanghai salmon or savory Roumanian skirt steak and fries.
Dessert after the movie? Order a tall strawberry parfait, and take home an order of some of the best New York City-made rugelach you’ll ever find!
Some of the best things in life just get better with time. Naples’ Stage Deli is one of them!
