Theresa Caputo, known as the Long Island Medium who talks to the dead, is coming to Germain Arena in Estero on April 8. She is host of the TLC reality show, “Long Island Medium.” In her show, Caputo will talk about her ability to talk to the dead and do live readings of audience members.
Caputo describes her ability as making connections with the dead and delivering messages back to the living through spirit guides and angels. She acts like a bridge between the physical and spiritual world, receiving her messages through thoughts, feelings and visions.
Besides communicating with the dead, Caputo is a New York Times best-selling author. Wife of Larry Caputo for 25 years and mom to two grown children, Larry and Victoria, she and her husband live on Long Island in Hicksville, New York.
The show is highly successful with fans that keep it in the number one slot in that time period. Caputo’s Twitter account has close to 100,000 followers and her Facebook page generates over 12,000 likes in just a matter of hours. She delivers messages on television, in her home and on tour, all to the audience’s oh my God’s, big gasps and sudden sobbing.
The audience seems to be stunned and shocked at her accuracy. She mentions something in each message about the departed that only the person she’s delivering the message to seems to know. The messages Caputo delivers from the departed say they take responsibility for what has happened, that they are at peace and they love and miss their families. The faces of those who receive her messages are streaming with tears.
“I just want to validate their loved ones are still with them and they are safe and at peace,” said Caputo.
“I can remember at four years old connecting with spirit. I would wake up and speak to people standing at the edge of my bed or I would talk to my grandmother who had died,” said Caputo.
It wasn’t until she was in her 20’s that she accepted her gift as a medium.
“I suffered severe anxiety and my mother introduced me to a spiritual healer and teacher named Pat Longo. After just one session, she told me I was suppressing Spirit’s energy, which was causing me a lot of anxiety, she helped teach me to channel spirit,” said Caputo.
Fans and clients ask Caputo to describe how she receives information.
“It’s hard to put into words because I see, hear and feel things differently than we do in the physical world. Spirit mostly speaks to me in a sixth sense, a kind of feeling and knowing. When I get the information it feels like a very strong intuition or recall,” said Caputo.
Her communication with the dead is a vocabulary of signs and symbols that she assigns words, phrases and meanings to. She says it’s the client’s job to interpret the meaning of the message.
“I’m grateful for an ability that’s brought countless people comfort and joy, helped many believe in the afterlife and that spirit has brought them peace.”
