This year’s Swings For The Sox swung for the fences and raised huge money for local charities. The annual golf tournament included 132 participants and raised more than $56,000.

The tournament was held at Tiburon Golf Club located at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort in Naples. Organized by the Red Sox Foundation, the golf tournament included a scramble format with prizes for the longest drive, putting, closest to the pin and more.

Proceeds from this year’s tournament will result in $25,000 each for the Children’s Advocacy Center of Southwest Florida and the Immokalee Foundation.

In three years, this event has raised approximately $120,000 for local nonprofits.

The gross winners of this year’s tournament were Brad Shipley, Rusty Whitley, Ben Lane and Rick Johnston. The net winners were Brian Trecek, David Doran, Brandon Hume and Hank Porter.

Prior to the tournament, JetBlue Park hosted a Party in the Park “Tee Off” Party that included dinner courtesy of Rib City on the Green Monster, self-guided tours, a one-of-a-kind silent auction and raffle prizes. The night also included opportunities for participants to take batting practice swings from home plate for the chance to win Spring Training season tickets for 2015.

Founded in 1981, the mission of the Children’s Advocacy Center of Southwest Florida (CAC) is to improve the lives of children and their families through a coordinated response to child abuse and neglect.

The Immokalee Foundation provides a range of education programs that focus on building pathways to success through college and post-secondary preparation and support, mentoring and tutoring, opportunities for broadening experiences and life skills development leading to economic independence.

The Red Sox Foundation is a 501(c)(3) and the official team charity of the Boston Red Sox. The Foundation’s primary focus locally is in serving the health, education, recreation and social service needs of children and families across Southwest Florida. The Red Sox Foundation is one of the most successful in all of Major League Baseball.
