An investigation is taking place in Lee County right now after a newspaper delivery person was shot at while working her morning route in North Fort Myers.

The incident took place on Breeze Drive near the intersection of Bayshore Road and Hart Road.

Clemmie Sue Gordon (48) a 7-year veteran carrier for the News-Press was working her daily route Tuesday morning when a white car pulled up next to her red Dodge Avenger around 3:30 a.m. and fired a single shotgun blast into her driver’s side door.

The aftermath of the event was a four inch hole in her driver’s side door. The shot penetrated the door traveling through it and hit the steering column and Gordon’s right knee.

The victim drove away and phoned the Lee County Sheriff.

Shortly after the incident a vehicle matching the description of the one the victim gave authorities was located and four people were taken in for questioning.

Gordon does not plan on quitting her job but a route change is in her near future.

No charges have been filed at this time.
