BONITA SPRINGS –Information from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office
On Monday, May 12, 2014 at approximately 9:25 am, deputies with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the BB&T Bank located at, 3987 Bonita Beach Road, Bonita Springs in reference to a robbery. Due to the nature of the incident, detectives with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Robbery Unit were assigned to continue the investigation.
Surveillance shows that a white male entered the bank, walked up to the counter and showed the bank teller a letter demanding cash. The suspect then fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash. Lee County Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit and K9 Units were deployed to search for the suspect.
After following some tips, deputies were able to locate who they think is the suspect at the Publix just down the street from the scene of the crime. They are investigating further and an update will be put out as soon as the suspect is identified. Deputies are not searching for anyone else at this time.
No injuries were reported during the robbery. This is an isolated incident and the community is safe. No other details are being released at this time.
