L’Wren Scott, fashion designer, model, and longtime lover of Mick Jagger was found dead in her Manhattan apartment Monday of an apparent suicide according to law enforcement. Officials report that Scott was found by her assistant around 10am, who Scott had texted at 8:30am asking her to come by her $5.6 million Chelsea apartment. She was found hanging from a door knob with a scarf around her neck. No suicide note was left and there was no sign of forced entry.
Scott’s business has been on the decline since 2009 and she pulled out of London’s fashion week this year blaming “production reasons.” Records show that in 2012 Scott’s company, LS Fashion Limited, was nearly $6 million under water.
Jagger and Scott began dating in 2001. Jagger is currently on tour in Australia with the Stones. The Stones announced on their website that a concert set for Wednesday is cancelled. There has been no indication from the Stones what will happen with the remainder of the tour.
Editor-in-chief of Vogue, Anna Wintour, told The News that Scott was “a total perfectionist.”
“In person, L’Wren was always unbelievably generous, gracious, kind and so much fun,” said Wintour. “Her old-world American manners and charm were from another time, but her sensibility was always fiercely modern. We will all miss her.”
