Comcast Corporation and Netflix, Inc., have reached a multi-year mutually beneficial interconnection agreement that will provide high-quality viewing experience for Netflix subscribers.
Over the past few months the two corporations were in conflict over allegations Comcast restricted traffic for Netflix users, resulting in a low-quality viewing experience. It appears the companies have reached an agreement that is satisfactory to both parties.
A speed data study conducted by Netflix revealed that Comcast Speeds peaked in September 2013 and have experienced a steady decline ever since.
As a subscribe to Comcast and Netflix I can attest to the declining speeds in recent months. Both my neighbor and I have experienced video-freezing buffering issues as well as image pixilation while streaming media from Netflix.
To remedy the problem the two companies have established a “more direct connection between Netflix and Comcast” users. At this time, details about the agreement are not being disclosed; however, a press release from Netflix revealed Comcast will not provide preferential network treatment.
