Arcadia Man Arrested in Pine Island Bank of America Robbery

Jesse Pence, 36 years of age, DOB 7-7-77, of 11539 SE Wolf Avenue, was arrested for the morning robbery of the Bank of America located at 5041 Pine Island Road N.W. on Pine Island.

Deputies from the Lee County Sheriffs Office responded to the bank at approximately 9:25 a.m. The suspect was described as a white male. He demanded that the teller put the money into a white trash bag.

Pence made of with and undisclosed sum of money. Witness reported the suspected fled the scene of the crime in a gray or silver Chevrolet Tahoe but not before a vehicle tag number was recorded by witnesses.

Officials swiftly established and quarantined a search perimeter with the help of K-9 Units as well as Air support via helicopter.


Detectives were able to trace the tag number back to a Lehigh Acres residence which provided additional insight regarding Pence.

Expanding the search into the surround neighborhoods deputies found Pence’s getaway vehicle at 10632 Tipton Drive in Bokeelia, which is located just minutes from the scene of the crime.

The search resulted in the recovery of the stolen cash, as well as, the exact clothing that was seen in surveillance video from the bank. Pence was also positively identified by eyewitnesses.


Jesse Pence is charged with Robbery Without a Weapon. At the time of his arrest Pence also had an outstanding warrant for violation of probation on a drug charge.
